This week for the blog…

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

This has been one cool week because I hyperlinked all of my comments so I could get a good grade and I also added a few comments and I went to Oregon and Fort Vancouver! I saw the fur trading post and all the other cool stuff related to that. It was amazing being where we were studying in SS. That is just so cool! :)

The Statehood Era…

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

The chapter that I am working on right now is the Statehood era which is from 1859 to 1889. There was a gold rush that occured during that time and they (US government) removed Indians to get to the gold and I believe that was unjust because that was where the Indians have lived for thousands of years (well, their ancestors) anyway that is just mean that the US government can do that. They even said it was illegal but they did it any way!!! That is unfair and they wanted peace.

Chapter 7

This chapter we learned about the nez perce retreat. It was really scary and I wouldn’t want to be one of the nez perce.

The Whitman Massacre.

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

The Whitman massacre happened at the waiilatpu mission in 1847. There were 14 killed and 47 were captured and held hostage. It was a very bad story to tell especially since it’s bloody…

The last few chapters.

Friday, May 7th, 2010

The last few chapters have been, well interesting. The latest chapter has been about the Oregon trail and it sounded very un g rated like the Donner party. And it wasn’t just the Donner party. There were others and they did that the Donner party. They also lived off of just bacon beans and bread. So that is chapter 6.

Washington Excel Map

End chapter 4, Begin chapter 5.

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

As chapter 4 ends, it is important to reflect on what I learned over the course of the chapter. What I learned is that Lewis and Clark took 3 years to cross the Missouri river to explore. While they were charting they were also feeding a huge group by barely and the also had a pregnant women who later gave birth. I bet that was tough. Anyway, chapter 5 is all about the fur trade and other fur companies and their competition. So far we have learned about 4 fur companies, NW co, Pacific co, Hudson’s Bay co, and Rocky Mountain co.

The Lewis and Clark video.

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

The Lewis and Clark video made me think about all the things they had to suffer and when I go in Boy Scout campouts I feel miserable but what they went through is a lot worse  than what I have to deal with now. It makes me feel kind of grateful for the heat that I have and all the other blessings I take for granted. Did you know that Sacagawea lived to be 100 years old? Cool. :)
